Dr. Farah Mneimneh was previously a postdoctoral research associate in the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department at Iowa State University. She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, majoring in Thermal Fluids, at Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architects at the American University of Beirut in September 2021. Her research interests and experiences in the mechanical, civil, and bioengineering fields reflect her interdisciplinary background, focusing on energy justice among vulnerable communities, including Indigenous people, people with disabilities, and immigrant communities in the US.

Additionally, her work focuses on human-technology interaction in global communities. Her core research area comprises Energy Burden among Vulnerable and Marginalized Communities in the US, Energy Transition Justice in Alaska Native Communities, and Thermal Comfort and Well-being in Built-in and Hot Outdoor Environments for people with physical disabilities.

Finally, her passion for teaching is one of the key motives for becoming a professor. Her teaching philosophy spans two key areas: supporting social justice in the classroom and facilitating a dynamic classroom environment.
