Biography

Angelica Montoya is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of the Humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Íø. Her main research interests are Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition primarily among Spanish-English bilinguals and second language learners of Spanish. Other scholarly interests include Code-switching, Heritage Language Acquisition and Pedagogy, Applied Linguistics, Hispanic Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Language Contact and Spanish in the U.S.

Professor Montoya earned her Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition from Rutgers University. At Rutgers University, she was the Assistant Director of the Summer Study Abroad Program in Salamanca, Spain. Professor Montoya holds an M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Florida and two B.A. degrees in Psychology and Spanish from The Pennsylvania State University.
